Telugu actor Nani recently made a promotional visit to Chennai for his movie Surya’s Saturday, the Tamil adaptation of his Telugu film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. During the event, Nani expressed his deep connection with Chennai, particularly with Tamil cinema, saying that being in Chennai feels like a familiar place from a previous life. He mentioned that meeting the Tamil press before each movie release has become a customary practice for him and expressed gratitude for the affection shown by the Tamil audience, especially after the success of Naan Ee (Eega).
Nani acknowledged Tamil cinema as his main source of inspiration for joining the film industry, citing influential figures like Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, Shankar, Bharathiraja, and others as his inspiration. Describing Surya’s Saturday as a revival of straightforward action films, Nani contrasted it with the current trend of grandiose action movies filled with slow-motion sequences and prolonged build-ups. He praised the film for its relatable characters and broad appeal, commending director Vivek Athreya’s artistic vision.
