Nayanthara has faced criticism on social media after hepatologist Cyriac Abby Philips challenged her statements regarding the purported health benefits of hibiscus tea. In a now-deleted post, Nayanthara asserted that hibiscus tea is beneficial during the monsoon season due to its vitamin content and immune-boosting properties. She claimed it possesses antibacterial effects that can safeguard against seasonal illnesses.

Known for his online persona as “The Liver Doc,” Philips rebuked Nayanthara’s assertions, suggesting that her promotion of hibiscus tea extended beyond reasonable limits. He disputed her claims that the tea could aid in conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, acne, and flu prevention, noting that these assertions lacked scientific backing.

In a veiled response, Nayanthara shared a quote by Mark Twain insinuating that engaging with unfounded arguments is futile. Speculation arose among fans that this post was directed at Philips and the ongoing dispute over hibiscus tea’s health benefits.
