A report was filed by the female residents of a hostel at approximately 4:30 am on Friday, prompting the police to initiate legal action under section 77 r/w III clause(5) of BNS and section 66 clause (e) of the IT Act.

Krishna SP Gangadhar Rao announced earlier that no concealed cameras were discovered in the girls’ hostel during the investigation. The police meticulously examined the suspected student’s electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones, in the presence of students and college personnel, but no incriminating videos were found. Rao assured the female students that ongoing investigations were being conducted to address the situation.

A special investigative team, comprised of female police officers and an IT specialist, has been assembled under the leadership of circle inspector Ramanamma from the Gudivada crime police station. Following directives from the Chief Minister, district collector Balaji, SP Gangadhar Rao, and district minister Kollu Ravindra visited the college to engage with protesting students who were demanding justice and boycotting classes.

SP Gangadhar Rao expressed readiness to employ nonlinear junction detector (NLJD) technology in the investigation to discern any potential presence of spy cameras within the women’s washroom, with a commitment to swiftly conclude the probe.

A search of the women’s hostel restrooms on Friday by CI Ramanamma, SI Poorna Madhuri, 10 female students, and officials from the women and child welfare department did not reveal any hidden spy cameras, as confirmed by Ramanamma to Deccan Chronicle.

Minister Ravindra confirmed the deployment of police personnel at the women’s hostel premises for enhanced security measures. The SP assured the female students of the appointment of a dedicated women police officer for each floor to bolster security within the hostel premises.
