Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a compelling speech at the News9 Global Summit held in Stuttgart, Germany, on the second day of the event. Speaking on the theme “India: Inside the Global Bright Spot,” Modi emphasized India’s growing influence as a hub for global investment, innovation, and digital technology, particularly in the context of the flourishing India-Germany partnership.
The Prime Minister invited German companies to further expand their operations in India, recognizing the immense potential for mutual growth. “India has the most unique digital government sector in the world,” Modi remarked, noting the country’s significant strides in digital innovation and infrastructure. He acknowledged that many German companies already have a presence in India but encouraged those yet to establish their bases to consider the vast opportunities available.
Modi’s speech also celebrated the completion of 25 years of strategic partnership between India and Germany, marking a historic milestone in bilateral relations. He referred to the strong foundations laid by previous leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s recent visit to India and the return of the German Business Asia Pacific Conference to Delhi after 12 years. “This year is historic for this partnership,” Modi stated, underscoring the growing collaboration between the two nations.
The Prime Minister further delved into the deep-rooted historical ties between India and Germany, recounting how German scholars and merchants contributed to the dissemination of Indian knowledge in Europe centuries ago. He mentioned that today, over 3 lakh Indians live in Germany, with 50,000 Indian students enrolled in German universities, highlighting the people-to-people connections that have strengthened over time.
More than 1,800 German companies are currently operating in India, reflecting the strong economic bond. Modi pointed to the “Focus India” document as a testament to Germany’s strategic interest in India, noting that the ongoing reforms and transformation in India have played a crucial role in reshaping the global perspective on India’s potential.
“India is becoming a global leader in the manufacturing sector,” Modi stated, citing the country’s rise to the top of various industries, including electronics, two-wheeler manufacturing, steel, cement, and four-wheeler production. He also highlighted India’s growing semiconductor industry, which is poised to make significant strides on the global stage.
The Prime Minister also pointed to India’s achievements in digital technology, stating, “Today, the world is seeing the impact of our investments and innovations in digital technology.” Modi emphasized the unique position of India’s digital public sector, noting that the country’s digital infrastructure was transforming both governance and business landscapes.
In his invitation to German companies, Modi expressed optimism about India’s business-friendly environment, citing India’s progressive policies like GST and its focus on infrastructure development. He encouraged German investors to take part in India’s growth story under the Make in India initiative, which has opened new avenues for manufacturing and investment.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing his delight in seeing an Indian media group, TV9, organize such a significant event and reaffirmed that India and Germany are poised to enter a new chapter of collaboration, fostering sustainable growth and prosperity.
