The nearly fifty-year wait is now over, ncw. Reopening on Sunday after a 46-year hiatus, Lord Jagannath’s Ratna Bhandar, or treasure trove, inside Srimandir, brought joy to millions of followers worldwide.
Following the schedule, a 15-person high-level committee led by Justice Biswanath Rath entered Ratna Bhandar and unlocked it precisely at 1:28 pm.
The committee had to break the lock on Bhitar Bandar since it would not open with its keys, but it was able to access the outer treasury, or Bahar Bhandar, using the key it had obtained from the district treasury.
Dr. Arabinda Padhee, chief administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), stated that valuable jewels kept in wooden chests called Sindooks in Bhahar Bhandar of Ratna Bhandar were moved to a makeshift strong room. Due to scheduling constraints, the valuables housed in Bhitar Bhandar’s inner treasury could not be moved today.
“As it was late today (on Sunday) till the valuables of Bahar Bhandar were shifted to temporary strong-room, we decided move the jewels of Bhitar Bhandar on another suit- able day after Lord Jagannath’s Bahuda Yatra and other rituals are over,” stated Dr. Padhee.
Any snakes or other feared creatures within Ratna Bhandar were sacked by the head administrator of SITA.
