Industrialist Ratan Tata, who recently passed away, left a legacy that extended far beyond his business achievements. Known for his extraordinary humility, Tata touched countless lives with his selfless gestures and down-to-earth spirit. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently paid tribute to his friend on Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, recalling moments that highlighted Tata’s simplicity, even amid his towering success.
In a moving conversation with filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Boman Irani, Bachchan shared a story from years ago. He recounted how Tata, despite his stature, once asked a mutual friend for a ride home because he did not own a car. “Imagine Ratan Tata saying, ‘I don’t have a car.’ It’s unimaginable,” said Bachchan, still struck by the industrialist’s modesty.
Bachchan also remembered a chance encounter with Tata on a flight to London. Upon arrival, Tata found himself alone at the airport and went to a phone booth to call for assistance. Afterward, he approached Bachchan with a simple request, “Amitabh, can I borrow some money from you? I don’t have money to make a phone call!” Even with his immense fortune, Tata’s humility and openness were at the forefront, exemplifying his genuine spirit.
Ratan Tata’s legacy is not only one of business but also of compassion, simplicity, and connection. His life and values will continue to inspire generations to come.
