Those Diwalis of my childhood are etched vividly in my mind—a true celebration of family, joy, and tradition. We’d gather with our extended family, around 45 of us, each family bringing crackers from different towns, filling a room with vibrant colors and excitement. The kitchen would be bustling with the energy of around 15 family members, all working together to prepare festival treats that would fill our hearts and plates.
Our mornings began with the timeless tradition of an oil bath, followed by dressing in new clothes. The air would be filled with the scent of festive spices, the crackle of firecrackers, and the warmth of laughter. And lunch was always grand, served on fresh banana leaves, bringing the family together in the most beautiful way.
Those Diwalis, filled with love, excitement, and tradition, were truly magical moments that continue to live on in my heart, reminding me of the joy of togetherness and the simple pleasures of life.
