The coaching hub of Kota, Rajasthan, known for its high-pressure academic environment, has once again been struck by a tragic incident. Another student has taken his life, adding to the alarming number of suicide cases among students in the region. Every year, thousands of ambitious young individuals flock to Kota with dreams of excelling in higher studies and securing promising careers. However, the intense pressure and rigorous demands of the coaching centers often take a toll on the mental well-being of students.
The recent suicide of Parasuram, a 21-year-old student from Barsana, Uttar Pradesh, has sent shockwaves through the community. Having arrived in Kota just a week ago to prepare for the NEET exam, Parasuram was pursuing his academic aspirations by attending coaching classes and staying in a rented room. When concerns arose over his whereabouts, the police were alerted by the landlord, Anup Kumar. Tragically, Parasuram was discovered lifeless in his room, having taken his own life.
This heartbreaking incident sheds light on the challenges faced by students in Kota and the urgent need for mental health support and intervention within the academic community. With 13 student suicides reported this year and a distressing total of 30 cases from the previous year, the gravity of the situation cannot be ignored. As investigations proceed into the circumstances surrounding Parasuram’s death, questions linger about the underlying factors contributing to these tragic outcomes.
