A senior official of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant suffered serious burn injuries in a workplace accident on Tuesday. The incident occurred when molten steel from a moving steel transfer car accidentally spilled onto him in the ladle preparation bay of Steel Melting Shop-1 at the plant.
The injured official has been identified as Ch. Malleswara Rao, a senior manager of operations at the steel melting shop. The accident primarily caused severe burn injuries to both of his legs. Following the incident, Rao was immediately rushed to Visakha Steel General Hospital for urgent medical attention. Given the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to a corporate hospital for advanced treatment.
The accident highlights the high-risk environment that steel plant employees work in, particularly in areas where handling molten steel is a routine part of operations. An investigation into the cause of the incident is expected to be carried out to prevent similar accidents in the future. The management and employees at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant are deeply concerned for the well-being of their colleague and are closely monitoring his condition.
This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the critical importance of safety protocols in high-risk industries like steel production. The plant is likely to review its safety measures to ensure the protection of its workers going forward.
