In a commendable achievement, Srikakulam Superintendent of Police (SP) K.V. Maheswara Reddy returned 154 recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners during a special ceremony at the district police office on Saturday morning. These devices, valued at approximately Rs 24 lakh, were part of an ongoing recovery effort by the Srikakulam Police to reunite citizens with their lost valuables.

At a press conference following the event, SP Maheswara Reddy announced the impressive milestone reached this year: “Our team has successfully recovered and returned 618 mobile phones, amounting to a total value of Rs 279 lakhs, to citizens across the district.” The SP extended special praise to the Cyber Cell team, led by CI T. Srinu, for their dedication and efficient work in tracking and recovering these lost devices.

SP Maheswara Reddy also urged citizens to take advantage of the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal at ceir.gov.in to report lost mobile phones. This platform has been instrumental in supporting the police with tracking and returning lost devices. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of simple security practices, such as using strong phone locks and avoiding the storage of sensitive information on mobile devices.

Looking to further enhance public awareness, the SP announced plans to conduct awareness programs on the importance of reporting lost phones and basic mobile security measures at police stations across the district. This initiative underscores the Srikakulam Police Department’s commitment to both crime prevention and public service, helping citizens reclaim their belongings and prioritize their digital safety.
