In a groundbreaking move for the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, Gandham Chandrudu, Managing Director of Swachh Andhra Corporation, introduced the use of drone technology to elevate cleanliness efforts across Andhra Pradesh. This pioneering initiative marks the first time drones have been employed in the state’s urban sanitation drive, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of cleanliness operations.
Chandrudu officially announced the launch of this innovative pilot project on Tuesday, which will cover several key municipal corporations, including Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Nellore. In collaboration with AP Drones Corporation, these drones will be deployed to identify unhygienic areas and garbage accumulation, enabling more targeted sanitation efforts. By pinpointing problematic zones, the drones will ensure swift and precise action, enhancing the overall effectiveness of municipal cleaning teams.
The drones will not only help in locating and monitoring garbage and cleanliness hotspots but will also be instrumental in post-cleanup assessments. This will ensure that community service initiatives meet the required cleanliness standards, promoting a healthier environment in urban areas. Furthermore, the use of drone technology will assist in monitoring various other government initiatives until October 2, with a focus on real-time oversight and improved service delivery.
Chandrudu also emphasized that the data collected by these drones will be integrated into ongoing and future cleanliness campaigns, further strengthening the state’s efforts toward Swachh Bharat. Plans are underway to link this data to the Government of India’s Swachhta Hi Seva portal, which will allow for continuous updates and enhancements to sanitation strategies, ensuring long-term cleanliness in Andhra Pradesh.
This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for public service, making Andhra Pradesh a leader in smart sanitation practices. The integration of drone technology is expected to significantly boost the efficiency and impact of cleanliness efforts, contributing to the broader goal of a cleaner and greener India.
