The Telangana government has taken another significant step to reinforce its commitment to farmer welfare. Starting today, farmers across the state will receive a ₹500 bonus per quintal for their fine rice produce. The Civil Supply Department has already signed and issued bonus checks worth over ₹1 crore, marking the beginning of a transformative initiative aimed at uplifting the agricultural community.
₹500 Bonus Initiative: A Milestone for Farmers
On November 16, the government began depositing the ₹500 bonus into farmers’ accounts for this kharif season. According to official announcements, the amount will reach farmers within 48 hours of the funds’ release. To ensure efficiency, the Civil Supply Department has implemented a systematic process for collecting and verifying procurement data.
As a sample case, on November 11, a farmer received ₹30,000 credited to their account, accompanied by a mobile notification. Following this success, checks worth over ₹1 crore were signed on November 16. Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao assured farmers that the process is streamlined, with funds reaching beneficiaries promptly.
Farmers’ Welfare at the Core
The Congress-led Telangana government continues to prioritize farmer welfare with a series of impactful measures:
- Loan Waiver: Within the first six months of governance, loans under ₹2 lakhs were waived, benefitting countless farmers. A total of ₹18,000 crore was deposited into farmers’ accounts to address their financial burdens.
- Future Plans: By December 9, the government aims to waive loans exceeding ₹2 lakhs, releasing an additional ₹10,000 crore to support agricultural growth.
- Rythu Bharosa: The formation of a cabinet sub-committee is underway to design procedures for Rythu Bharosa, ensuring comprehensive farmer assurance programs. There are speculations of introducing an annual farmer insurance scheme worth ₹15,000.
Farmers Express Joy
The ₹500 bonus initiative has brought immense relief and satisfaction to farmers across Telangana. Many expressed gratitude for the swift action and acknowledged the government’s efforts to address their needs. The bonus, combined with loan waivers and future insurance plans, reinforces the government’s image as a pro-farmer administration.
Looking Ahead: Building Trust with Farmers
As part of its commitment to farmers, the Congress government is leaving no stone unturned to deliver welfare programs effectively. By December 9, the culmination of these efforts will further solidify the administration’s stance as a “farmer welfare government.” The introduction of the ₹500 bonus stands as a testament to this dedication, signaling a brighter future for Telangana’s agricultural sector.
