Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, highlighted the educational value of the newly released Birds of Telangana pocket guide, compiled by the dedicated members of Hyderabad Birding Pals (HBP). This guide, which aims to introduce Telangana’s avian diversity to students and nature enthusiasts, was formally unveiled by the Deputy CM at Praja Bhavan on Wednesday.
During the event, Mr. Vikramarka lauded the efforts of Hyderabad Birding Pals (HBP) in creating a resource that will serve as a valuable educational tool for future generations. The Deputy CM emphasized the importance of such resources in fostering awareness and appreciation of Telangana’s unique biodiversity. The Birds of Telangana pocket guide features detailed information on 252 important bird species, including their diets, migration patterns, and conservation statuses.
Audepu Harikrishna, President of Hyderabad Birding Pals, explained the critical role this guide will play in introducing Telangana’s birdlife to a wide audience, from school students to nature enthusiasts. He shared that the pocket guide will be distributed free of charge to students in government schools and colleges across Telangana, ensuring that young people throughout the region have access to this educational resource.
HBP’s initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance awareness of Telangana’s biological diversity and the importance of conserving it. By making the guide accessible to the public, HBP aims to inspire an interest in nature and encourage bird-watching, conservation, and environmental stewardship within Telangana’s communities.
The event underscored the collaborative efforts of Telangana’s government and community organizations like HBP in promoting environmental awareness and conservation, marking a significant step towards educating the next generation about the ecological treasures of their homeland.
