The Maharashtra police have lodged an FIR against an individual on social media platform X for allegedly sharing derogatory memes and comments targeting Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Following a complaint by Prathamesh Patil, a case was recorded at Khadakpada police station in Thane district under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for inciting hostility between various groups and causing public disturbance. The complaint states that the user @gajabhaux has been producing and circulating offensive memes with edited images of Fadnavis since July 19. These posts feature manipulated images of Fadnavis likening him to historical figures like Afzal Khan, Aurangzeb, and others from the Mughal era. The content also includes disrespectful language directed at the Deputy CM, portraying him as a malevolent character responsible for the state’s adversities. The complainant alleged that these posts have instilled a feeling of discontent and insecurity among the public. The police are presently carrying out an investigation into the issue, and no arrests have been executed thus far
