At the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, Vizag Warriors defeated Uttarandhra Licns by a massive margin of 91 runs to win the Andhra Premier League (APL) Season 3 championship. Andhra Ranji batsman Ashwin Hebbar struck an unbeaten 56-ball 91 (4×8, 6×4).

When Vizag Warriors batted first, Ashwin Hebbar and Bhupathiraju Varma (37 off 27 balls, 4×6) combined for a strong 89-run opening partnership that helped them put up a formidable total of 189 for five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Srikar Bharat, the Warriors’ skipper, also contributed significantly, batting 21 off 14 balls.

The Uttarandhra Lions’ hitters crumbled under duress, being bowled out for 102 in 16.3 overs when they needed 190 to win.

In actuality, the Uttarandhra Lions were never in the game since they were unable to bounce back from a few early setbacks in their innings. Sanaboyina Tarun, another opener, came soon after him, scoring just 13 runs, as opener Mopada Ravikiran was removed before he could open his account. Pinninti Tapaswi (7) also fell for a low price. The Lions were trailing three for 22 at one point.

Despite Bendalam Satvik’s best efforts, wickets continued to fall frequently in the innings. After Satvik hit the highest score of 26 runs off of 26 balls, the Uttarandhra Lions collapsed for 102 runs in 16.3 overs, despite forlorn attempts from Dheeraj Kumar (11) and Bandaru Ayyappa (9).

Medium pacer with the right arm Warriors’ best bowler was P. Manikanta Gangadhar, who finished with three for seventeen, while K. Sudharsan and J. Ram both claimed two wickets.

With 456 runs scored overall, Ashwin Hebbar was the tournament’s highest scorer, and with 14 wickets, K. Sudarshan led the bowling stats. In addition, Ashwin Hebbar received the coveted Orange Cap and the Player of the Tournament title.

In recognition of the team’s outstanding accomplishment, Dr. Narendra Ram, co-owner of Lifespan and the Vizag Warriors, announced a 10 lakh rupee cash reward.

In brief, the final scores were: Uttarandhra Lions 102 in 16.3 overs (Bendalam Satvik 26, Manikanta Gangadhar 3/17, Jagarlapudi Ram 2/23) vs Vizag Warriors 189/5 in 20 overs (Ashwin Hebbar 91 n.o, Bhupathiraju Varma 37, Yadla Vasu 2/26).
