Following a picture tour of Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) at the Commissioner of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development office on Friday, the Deputy CM spoke.
He said that Pithapuram, Pawan Kalyan’s home constituency, will be the site of the Swachh Andhra Corporation’s pilot program launch of the SLRM model.
Under it, the 54 panchayats and two municipalities in the Pithapuram constituency will introduce two innovative programs, Garbage to Gold and Drainage to Diamond, aimed at managing the waste and garbage created in their respective areas and creating money.
The primary goal of this project, according to the Deputy Chief Minister, is to permanently end the pollution of the air and water produced by burning waste and disposing of it in water bodies. Panchayats and municipalities would be able to generate revenue and achieve financial independence by processing the waste.
PAWAN ANNOUNCED that the Dy CM’s home constituency of Pithapuram will host a pilot project for the Swachh Andhra Corporation’s SLRM concept.
Two novel projects, Garbage to Gold and Drainage to Diamond, will be introduced under IT in each of the 54 panchayats and two municipalities that make up the Pithapuram constituency.
He said that in order to raise awareness about waste segregation and zero waste management in rural regions, women from self-help groups (SHGS) and other like-minded individuals will be involved. “There is an urgent need to bring about a cultural change among people towards disposal of waste,” he said.
In partnership with C. Srinivasan, the project director for SLRM, Swachh Andhra Corporation will carry out the pilot project in the Pithapuram constituency.
Prior to the initiative being implemented in all local bodies throughout the state, the project outcomes will be examined.
