Visakhapatnam’s tourist destinations experienced an overwhelming influx of visitors on Sunday, thanks to the festive spirit of Karthika Month. Families and tourists thronged the city’s beaches, parks, and scenic Agency areas, marking a record-breaking footfall at several popular locations.
Iconic spots such as RK Beach, Tenneti Park, Kailasagiri, VMRDA Park, Rushikonda, Bheemunipatnam, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP), and Kambalakonda were bustling with activity from the early hours. Visitors of all ages participated in a variety of engaging activities, including tambola, anthakshari, kabaddi, and organized games. Many picnickers captured their joyous moments through selfies set against the stunning backdrops of these locales.
Among the highlights, IGZP saw an impressive 10,006 visitors in a single day, generating a remarkable revenue of ₹27,64,640. This reinforces its position as a premier family-friendly destination. Other attractions also witnessed significant footfalls, with Borra Caves welcoming 6,975 tourists and Lambasingi drawing around 3,000 visitors who enjoyed its cooler climate.
The cooler temperatures in Agency areas like Chintapalli, Paderu, Minumuluru, and Vanjangi—ranging from 12°C to 18°C—have further enticed tourists seeking a refreshing break from the warmer plains. Meanwhile, the Beach Road stretch from Rushikonda to Naval Coastal Battery experienced notable traffic congestion due to the sheer volume of tourists.
This surge in visitors underscores Visakhapatnam’s enduring charm and its ability to offer diverse experiences, from serene beaches to cool hill stations.
