The tranquil Horsley Hills in Anamaya district is poised to evolve into a leading tourist destination, thanks to an endeavor led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. On Tuesday, District collector Sridhar revealed the government’s intention to invest 200 crore with the esteemed hospitality firm, the Oberoi Group. Together with representatives from Oberoi Group and tourism officials, the collector surveyed Horsley Hills to evaluate the project’s needs. Subsequently, he highlighted the government’s focus on promoting adventure tourism, trekking, camping activities, and establishing luxury hotels in the area. The visit by Oberoi representatives stemmed from an offer of governmental assistance by the chief minister. The collector stated that pending discussions at the Oberoi board, project activities could kick off within two months. This endeavor is expected to stimulate local employment and income, as outlined by the collector. Plans are also in place for a tourism circuit that will connect Horsley Hills with nearby attractions such as Gurram konda Fort, Veligallu Reservoir, and Tallapaka, the birthplace of Annamacharya. This circuit will further link to major cities like Tirupati, Bengaluru, and Kadapa. Additionally, the Oberoi Group is contemplating the establishment of a helipad service for VVIPS from Tirupati and Bengaluru. The group’s architect has surveyed the site to identify development opportunities while preserving the area’s natural charm. The collector expressed confidence that this initiative will revolutionize the region’s tourism sector, with a joint effort from the government and private sector to unlock Horsley Hills’ full potential. Present at the event were Joint collector Adarsh Rajendran, Madanapalle sub-collector Megha Swaroop, and other officials.
