The public grievance initiative led by special chief secretary (revenue) R.P. Sisodia in response to the fire incident at the Madanapalle sub-collector’s office garnered significant attention on Thursday. A large number of affected individuals visited the office during the four-hour session. Sisodia listened to grievances from victims concerning land disputes spanning the last two to three years across 11 man dals in the Madanapalle sub-division. Numerous complaints were raised by farmers and residents regarding issues such as discrepancies in the Record of Rights Register (1B), manipulation of records, fraudulent land registrations, and tampering of patta passbooks and online entries.
Many of the complaints revolved around land encroachments by various individuals, including politicians, and alleged partiality among revenue officials. Incidences from regions like Madanapalle, Thamballapalle, Piler, and Punganur were highlighted, suggesting notable irregularities in revenue affairs within these areas.
Prior to this, Sisodia convened a meeting with collectors Sridhar (Annamayya), Sumit Kumar (Chittoor), and Venkateswar (Tirupati), in addition to RDOS and tahsildars. The special chief secretary stressed the importance of accurate record-keeping in the revenue department and urged officials to maintain precise records in strict adherence to government guidelines. Guidelines were issued by Sisodia regarding D-Pattas (title deeds), emphasizing a minimum 20-year period before issuance, and called for surveys of current cases. He underscored the significance of online processing for all applications received at tahsildar offices and recommended thorough attention to even minor issues for efficient issue resolution.
The meeting encompassed various topics, including Inam land registrations, 22(A) land concerns, patta land specifics from 2020-23, land use conversions, dotted land issues, and assigned land matters.
Meanwhile, YSRC MP P. Mithun Reddy refuted accusations linking his family to the fire incident at the Madanapalle subcollector’s office. Addressing the media in New Delhi, he stated that his political adversaries were falsely targeting him. Reddy asserted that his family was not involved and conducts their business affairs legally, with all assets properly listed in election affidavits. He warned of legal repercussions against anyone making baseless allegations against his family and offered to step back from politics if any concrete evidence proved otherwise. Anurag, one of the arrested individuals, was associated with the Telugu Desam party, according to Reddy
