Following heavy rainfall, the water level in the Meghadri Gedda Reservoir in Pendurthi mandal has risen to 57.4 feet. Vizag District Collector M.N. Harendira Prasad and MLA P.G.V.R Naidu (Ganababu) conducted an assessment at the reservoir, which serves as a vital water source for Vizag residents. They reassured the public that despite the reservoir nearing full capacity, there is no need for concern, and the surrounding regions are well-maintained. The collector emphasized that the reservoir’s maximum water level is 61 feet and confirmed that the situation remains stable due to lower rainfall in the catchment area on Monday. He advised against swimming in these conditions. Authorities from GVMC have already notified residents of the 89th ward, stressing the importance of swift action. The district collector mentioned the preparedness of irrigation, revenue, and police departments to release water through the reservoir gates to lower-lying areas.
