The upcoming Visakha MLC by-elections have stirred up excitement as the contest narrows down with the absence of the TDP party. Currently, there are only two contenders in the race: former minister Botsa Satyanarayana representing YCP and Shafi Ullah running as an independent candidate after submitting their nominations. Should the independent candidate decide to withdraw, Botsa Satyanarayana is likely to secure a unanimous victory; otherwise, the election will proceed as planned.
In related news, the deadline for MLC by-election nominations from local bodies has passed, with two candidates having filed for the upcoming election. The nominations are set to undergo scrutiny on Wednesday, leading up to the polling day scheduled for the 30th of this month, running from 8 am to 4 pm.
On a different note, the TDP party has opted out of participating in the MLC by-election, citing the limited support from their coalition parties as the reason for this decision. The electorate for this election includes GVMC corporators, Narsipatnam and Yalamanchili municipal councillors, as well as ZPTC and MPTC members, with a majority of them having affiliations with YCP. Despite some TDP MLAs expressing confidence in their chances of winning, the leadership determined that the effort required for victory was not warranted.
Chandrababu emphasized the need for a more restrained approach to politics, stating that assembling a large opposition force for an MLC seat was unnecessary. This decision was supported by alliance leaders as well. The question remains whether Shafi Ullah will retract his nomination as an independent candidate, potentially leading to a unanimous outcome, or if the election excitement will persist.
