In a remarkable incident that unfolded in the courtrooms of Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, a murder case witness found himself facing unexpected punishment—not for his evidence, but due to his disrespectful behavior. Gorle Satthibabu, a mason by profession, appeared to testify in a murder case under the jurisdiction of Sabbavaram Police Station. Satthibabu’s hometown is Adireddypalem village, located in Sabbavaram mandal. When he showed up in court, his appearance shocked the officials, leading to an unforgettable courtroom moment.

On arrival at the 10th Additional Sessions Judge’s Court in Anakapalli, it became evident to the officials that Satthibabu had not come prepared for the solemn task of testifying in a murder trial. Instead, the fifty-five-year-old gentleman arrived visibly intoxicated. The court, surprised by his demeanor, became suspicious and ordered an immediate alcohol test to confirm its suspicions.

Following the judge’s orders, Anakapalli town police conducted a breathalyzer test on Satthibabu, confirming that he was indeed under the influence. His careless behavior not only disrupted court proceedings but also offended the sanctity of the judicial process. As a result, the police immediately registered a petty case against him and presented him before the 11th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.

In response to Satthibabu’s disrespectful appearance, the judge handed him a 24-hour jail sentence and imposed a fine of 50 rupees. He was subsequently transferred to the Anakapalli Sub Jail to serve his one-day sentence, marking a sobering reminder that courts demand decorum and respect from everyone involved—whether defendants, plaintiffs, or witnesses.

The Anakapalli Town Police Station’s House Officer, Vijay Kumar, emphasized that this unusual punishment serves as a lesson not only for those directly involved in criminal cases but for anyone stepping into the courtroom. Misconduct in court, whether through disruptive actions or inappropriate behavior, will not be tolerated, he stated.

This incident underscores the importance of maintaining respectful behavior within judicial spaces. It’s a reminder that appearing intoxicated or otherwise unfit can lead to punitive measures, even for those who are there to provide support in legal proceedings. The court’s swift action in this case reflects the seriousness with which it views proper conduct and respect for judicial institutions.

In conclusion, this surprising turn of events stands as a cautionary tale: the law demands respect, and failing to uphold court decorum can have swift consequences—even for witnesses there to offer testimony in support of justice.
