The annual Dussehra Navratri celebrations at the revered Indrakiladri Temple in Vijayawada are fast approaching, set to commence on October 3, 2024. The festivities will span nine days, culminating in the joyous Vijaya Dashami celebration on Saturday, October 12. During this auspicious period, devotees will honor the avatars of Goddess Durga as symbols of strength and wisdom.
Preparations for the grand festival are in full swing, with temple authorities diligently organizing the event from the 3rd to the 12th of next month. Last year saw a turnout of 13 lakh devotees, and it is anticipated that this year’s celebrations will attract even more, with an estimated additional lakh of devotees expected to partake in the festivities.
To accommodate the influx of visitors, special arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for devotees. From Sarva darshan to special darshan, separate queue lines are being established to streamline the darshan process and minimize waiting times, regardless of weather conditions.
In an effort to enhance the overall experience and prevent disruptions, authorities are implementing measures to manage protocol and VIP darshans effectively. A designated time slot will be allocated for VIP visits to minimize interference with regular devotees seeking blessings from the goddess.
However, amidst the excitement and preparations, challenges have arisen due to recent floods and heavy rains, leading to landslides on the hills surrounding the temple. With Dussehra just 20 days away, officials are working tirelessly to address these challenges, ensuring the safety of both residents and visitors. Special teams of experts have been deployed to assess the situation and devise both temporary and permanent solutions to mitigate risks.
