Every year Krishna Janmashtami festival is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna. It is celebrated on Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravan. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born on this day. That is why every year this Tithi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna. On the day of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Laddu Gopala is worshipped with special pujas, and the child form of Lord Krishna is worshipped. Fasting is observed, and the significance of Lord Krishna’s birth is remembered. Devotees prepare different types of sweets at home and offer them to Lord Krishna.
On the day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, it is considered a special privilege to offer various types of food items to Lord Krishna and distribute them to the hungry.
