The belief is that by offering pleasing objects to Lord Krishna, the seeker will receive special blessings from Lord Krishna, happiness, peace, and prosperity in life. Every year Krishna Janmashtami festival is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna. It is celebrated on Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravan. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born on this day. That is why every year this Tithi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna. On the day of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Laddu Gopala is worshipped with special pujas, and the child form of Lord Krishna is worshipped. Fasting is observed, and the significance of Lord Krishna’s birth is remembered. Devotees prepare different types of sweets at home and offer them to Lord Krishna.

On the day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, it is considered a special privilege to offer various types of food items to Lord Krishna and distribute them to the hungry. Some of the objects offered are considered very dear to Lord Krishna, such as Atukulu and Misri. These items are believed to bring special blessings from Lord Krishna. Sweets made of butter and sugar, along with offerings like Charanamrita, dry fruits kheer, and candy made from lotus seeds are also highly favored by Lord Krishna.

Chant this mantra while feeding Laddu Gopal on Janmashtami:
“O Lord all that I have you have given me.. we offer it to you. Please accept this offer.”

According to the Panchangam, Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi of Shravan month in 2024 will start on Sunday, August 25 at 3:39 PM and end the next day on Monday, August 26 at 2:19 PM. Janmashtami will be celebrated on Monday, August 26.
