The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a significant update for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, shifting the tournament venue from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates. The event is set to take place from October 3 to 20, with matches scheduled in two prominent stadiums in the UAE, namely Dubai and Sharjah.
The inaugural match of the tournament will feature an exciting clash between Bangladesh and Scotland. A total of 10 teams will participate, each playing four group matches, leading to a total of 23 matches throughout the competition. The teams have been divided into two groups – Group-A consists of Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group-B comprises South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland.
The semi-finals are scheduled for October 17 and 18, with the grand finale set to take place on October 20 in Dubai. One of the most anticipated matches in the group stage is the showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, slated for October 3 at 3:30 PM in Dubai. The history between these two teams adds an extra layer of excitement to the tournament, especially after India’s recent victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
