IPL 2025 is on the horizon, and the preparations for this multi-million dollar tournament have already commenced. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently made a groundbreaking announcement regarding the match fees for players participating in the upcoming IPL season.
According to a statement released by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, players competing in IPL 2025 will be entitled to a match fee of Rs. 7.5 lakhs for each match they play during the tournament. This move aims to ensure fair compensation for the players and enhance the overall competitiveness of the league.
In addition to the standard match fee, a mega auction is scheduled to take place before the commencement of IPL 2025. While speculations abound regarding the auction, the BCCI has remained tight-lipped on the specifics. However, Jaisha, another BCCI Secretary, confirmed the match fee arrangement for players in the next IPL season.
Following a recent IPL Governing Body meeting, Jaisha took to social media to share details of the new match fee policy. In his post, Jaisha revealed that players will receive Rs. 7.5 lakhs per match in the upcoming season. This means that a player participating in all 14 league stage matches stands to earn a total of Rs. 1.05 crores as match fee.
Moreover, players advancing to the playoffs and participating in additional matches, including the final, could earn up to Rs. 1.23 crores in match fees. Regardless of a player’s auction price or base salary, the match fee structure ensures fair compensation based on their match appearances throughout the tournament.
Jaisha further stated that each franchise will maintain a dedicated fund of Rs. 12.60 crores to cover the match fees for players. This new rule introduced by the BCCI aims to provide equitable compensation, particularly benefiting uncapped players whose base price in the auction is set at Rs. 20 lakhs.
While this policy may not significantly impact star players who command substantial earnings at auctions, it represents a significant boost for uncapped players who now have the opportunity to earn competitive salaries based on their match contributions.
