Jay Shah has been elected as the new president of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He will assume charge on December 1, 2024. At 35 years old, Jaisha has become the youngest president of the International Cricket Council and the fifth Indian to hold this prestigious position.

Before Jay Shah, four other Indians have led the ICC, including Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar. Jagmohan Dalmiya, the first Indian to become ICC President, held the position from 1997 to 2000. Sharad Pawar, a prominent Indian politician, served as ICC President from 2010 to 2012. N Srinivasan, former BCCI President, also chaired the ICC between 2014 and 2015.

Following N Srinivasan’s early departure, Shashank Manohar took over as ICC President in 2016. The appointment of the first independent female director in the ICC marked a significant milestone for the sport, signaling a positive change in international cricket’s landscape.

Jaisha will officially begin his term as ICC President on December 1, succeeding a line of distinguished Indian cricket administrators. His tenure is set for two years, making him the fifth Indian to lead the International Cricket Council.
