A few days ago, the Mongolian team, who ended the innings for the second lowest score in T20 cricket after being bowled out for just 17 runs, has now suffered a heavy defeat in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. In the recent match held at the UKM Oval in Malaysia, the Mongolian team once again underperformed and were bowled out for a mere 31 runs in 16.1 overs.

Opener Mohan Vivekanandan was the only one to show some resistance, scoring 8 runs off 26 balls, while the rest of the team struggled to make an impact with six batsmen failing to open their account. Enkhbat Batkhugh managed to hit the only boundary for Mongolia, scoring 4 runs off 5 balls.

On the bowling front, Virandeep Singh shone for Malaysia, taking 4 wickets for just 5 runs in 4 overs. Other bowlers like Rizwan Haider, Pawandeep Singh, Vijay Unni, Mohammad Amir, and Syed Aziz also chipped in with a wicket each.

The Malaysian captain, Syed Aziz, led his team to victory with a stellar batting performance, scoring an unbeaten 31 off just 11 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 281.82. With this defeat, Mongolia’s hopes of qualifying for the T20 World Cup were dashed, as they find themselves at the bottom of the points table after losses to Kuwait, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Singapore, and Maldives.
