SFA Championship 2024: Young Athletes Shine in Hyderabad’s Grand Sports Showcase

The SFA Championship 2024, a thrilling sports competition held in Hyderabad and organized by Sports for All (SFA) in collaboration with TV9 Network, is nearing its grand finale. Over the past 12 days, more than 23,000 young athletes from 920 schools have passionately competed in 22 sports across various stadiums. As the games wrap up in two days, the energy in Hyderabad’s stadiums is electrifying, with athletes giving their best performances.

This championship is part of TV9 Network’s “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” campaign, which aims to give young players a platform to showcase their skills. TV9 and SFA have curated the competition to highlight and reward emerging talent, recognizing the brightest stars across multiple sports. The winners will be honored with a special celebration in Germany in early 2025, giving young athletes international recognition.

Day 12 Highlights: Celebrating Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Football Victories

Today’s competitions drew large crowds, with students and fans enthusiastically cheering for their schools and favorite athletes. Here are some of the standout performances:

  • Kabaddi: The much-anticipated under-14 boys’ Kabaddi final saw a face-off between Vignon’s Bow Tree School, Nizampet, and Chintal Rainbow School, with Vignon’s Bow Tree School emerging victorious. In the under-14 girls’ final, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gachibowli claimed the gold medal, thrilling the spectators with an intense match at the Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium. Adding to the excitement, Pro Kabaddi League stars Narendra Kandola, Sachin Tanwar (Tamil Thalaivas), and Ajinkya Pawar (Bengaluru Bulls) graced the event, inspiring the young players and energizing the crowd.
  • Volleyball: The Gachibowli Stadium witnessed high-energy volleyball matches. Cornerstone School, Serilingampally, clinched the under-16 girls’ volleyball title, while Vigyan Global Zen School, Medchal, and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gachibowli won the under-16 and under-18 boys’ titles, respectively.
  • Football: Khajaguda Delhi Public School secured gold medals in both the U-16 and U-18 boys’ football categories. The spirited performances in these matches proved football’s growing popularity among young athletes.

In other events, basketball, handball, and table tennis matches continued to captivate fans and participants alike. Vignon’s Bow Tree School currently leads the medal tally across multiple sports, setting the stage for a close competition as the games come to a close.

Hyderabad’s Young Sports Enthusiasts Shine

This year’s Hyderabad edition of the SFA Championship has seen remarkable talent and a high level of skill across diverse sports. The championship has created a significant opportunity for young athletes to compete on a large platform, develop their abilities, and experience the thrill of competitive sports. For participating schools, the championship is an excellent chance to enhance their standing on the leaderboard and highlight their focus on sports excellence.
