The much-anticipated assembly election polling has officially commenced in Haryana, where voters will decide the fate of 1,031 candidates vying for 90 seats across the state. The polling began early this morning and will continue until 6:00 PM, with tight security arrangements in place to ensure a smooth and safe election process. Across Haryana, 20,632 polling stations have been set up, with 8,821 stations marked as sensitive areas.

A total of 2,03,54,350 eligible voters, including 8,821 centenarians, are expected to cast their votes today. The election will witness a fierce contest primarily between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress. Both parties are keenly battling to win the hearts of the electorate, with BJP aiming for a third consecutive term in power, while Congress seeks to turn the tide in their favor with their “7 promises” campaign aimed at addressing key voter concerns.

The stakes are high as Haryana’s voters have witnessed rising concerns over farmers’ issues, unemployment, and inflation, along with the impact of the controversial Agniveer scheme. These issues are expected to play a pivotal role in the voting decisions across the state. BJP, which secured 10 seats in the last election and formed the government, is leaving no stone unturned in their bid to retain control of the assembly.

However, the battle is far from limited to BJP and Congress. Other political parties such as the Jananaik Janata Party (JJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Azad Samaj Party (ASP) have entered the fray, further adding to the intensity of this election. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, both BJP and Congress secured five seats each, adding more fuel to the already fierce competition.

With tight security at polling stations and an enthusiastic voter turnout expected, all eyes are now on the results, which will shape the political landscape of Haryana for the next five years.
