The Andhra Pradesh Budget Assembly sessions came to an end on Friday, with both houses being adjourned indefinitely. However, the final day was marked by a stirring speech from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who outlined his vision for the state’s progress and addressed key development goals.

Swarnandhra-2047 and Vision 2027

In his comprehensive address, CM Chandrababu Naidu introduced the Swarnandhra-2047 document, which charts a roadmap for Andhra Pradesh’s development over the next few decades. A key focus was Vision 2027, an intermediate milestone aimed at transforming Amaravati into a world-class city and completing vital infrastructure projects like Polavaram.

Key highlights of the plan include:

  • Amaravati Development: Construction to commence in December 2024, with a phased completion timeline of 6, 9, 12, and 30 months for various buildings.
  • Polavaram Project: Set to be completed and operational by 2027, dedicated to the nation.
  • Budget Allocation: ₹50,000 crores to be invested in Amaravati’s development over the next three years.

Naidu emphasized the government’s commitment to building a “Wealthy, Healthy, and Happy Andhra Pradesh” and urged all MLAs to prepare a vision document for their respective constituencies.

Political Statements: Chandrababu’s Future

In a surprising turn, Chandrababu Naidu hinted at his future role in Andhra Pradesh politics. He declared that he might not serve as Chief Minister in the next term but promised to continue contributing as a team leader. Calling this phase “Chandrababu 4.0,” he underscored his belief in being re-elected based on good governance.

Drawing comparisons to long-serving governments in other states, Naidu expressed confidence in his party’s ability to lead Andhra Pradesh for the foreseeable future.

Key Development Goals

Naidu’s address also provided detailed updates on:

  1. Amaravati: The upcoming capital city is envisioned as a modern hub of governance and culture, with work expected to ramp up rapidly.
  2. Polavaram Project: The lifeline of Andhra Pradesh, this project aims to transform the state’s irrigation capabilities and is a critical part of Vision 2027.
  3. Economic Growth: The budget reflects a focus on infrastructure, innovation, and welfare to boost the state’s economy and improve the quality of life for its citizens.

Conclusion

CM Chandrababu Naidu’s speech marks a significant step in Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious journey toward becoming a model state. With the Swarnandhra-2047 and Vision 2027 plans now public, all eyes are on the government to deliver on these promises. Naidu’s decision to focus on leadership and vision rather than the Chief Ministership indicates a strategic shift, potentially paving the way for new leadership while ensuring continuity in governance.

As Amaravati gears up for its transformation and Polavaram approaches completion, Andhra Pradesh stands at the cusp of a new era of development and prosperity.

Polavaram Project and Beyond: CM Chandrababu Naidu Sets 2027 Deadline Amid Ambitious Plans for Andhra Pradesh

In a passionate address to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, CM Chandrababu Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Polavaram project, a lifeline for the state, by 2027. Emphasizing his government’s innovative approach, he declared, “We don’t have money, but we have ideas. We don’t have magic wands, but we have intelligence. Let’s use them to create miracles.” His address was aimed at inspiring MLAs and instilling confidence in achieving ambitious developmental goals.

Polavaram: A Lifeline in the Making

The Polavaram project, one of India’s largest multipurpose irrigation projects, has been a focal point of CM Chandrababu’s governance. Despite challenges, including financial constraints and delays, Naidu promised its completion by 2027. He criticized the previous government’s handling of the diaphragm wall construction, contrasting it with his administration’s commitment, which saw the project being reviewed 80 times and visited 28 times by him personally.

Chandrababu highlighted that under the TDP government, Polavaram could have been completed by 2021. However, delays post-2019 hindered progress. He announced that construction on the new diaphragm wall will commence in January 2024, ensuring that the project’s timeline remains on track.

A Vision for River Linking and Infrastructure Development

Beyond Polavaram, CM Chandrababu shared his life’s ambition of linking rivers to ensure water security for the state. This ambitious initiative, estimated to cost ₹70,000 crore, reflects his long-term vision for Andhra Pradesh’s development.

On infrastructure, he introduced an innovative road construction model involving private companies, to be piloted in the two Godavari districts. This approach aims to accelerate development while maintaining quality.

Addressing Inter-State and Political Issues

The assembly session also touched on critical issues, including inter-state employee transfers and pending disputes with Telangana. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav highlighted efforts to resolve employee relocation concerns, with over 3,000 employees seeking transfers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Discussions also revolved around grants, the Land Grabbing Act, and amendments to the Cooperative Societies, Excise, and Prohibition Acts.

The Skill Development Case and Political Tensions

The contentious issue of Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest in the skill development case was raised during the session. MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy accused the previous government of orchestrating a conspiracy, citing retired officer PV Ramesh’s claims of destroyed files. Demanding an inquiry, MLAs expressed concerns about the political motives behind the arrest.

Clarity Amid Challenges

CM Chandrababu Naidu’s detailed explanation of his government’s efforts to complete the Polavaram project and address pressing state issues was the highlight of the session. Despite financial hurdles, his focus on innovation and long-term vision sets a positive tone for Andhra Pradesh’s future.

As Andhra Pradesh navigates complex challenges, CM Chandrababu’s leadership and commitment to transformative projects like Polavaram and river linking hold promise for sustainable growth and development.

During a recent media briefing after attending the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) summit, Andhra Pradesh’s Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh firmly dismissed rumors about the privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). He countered what he described as “bad propaganda” by the opposition, assuring that the government will keep the steel plant under its control.

Lokesh highlighted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that privatization of the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), which oversees VSP, is not on the table. “RINL privatization is not acceptable,” Lokesh declared, further stating that the Chief Minister is in discussions with the Central government to address the challenges faced by the steel plant and will announce a decision soon.

The minister held a meeting with Telugu Desam leaders and local MLAs to deliberate on RINL’s challenges and vowed to resolve the issues swiftly. He also expressed his deep connection with Visakhapatnam, affirming his commitment to the city’s growth and industrial future.

In addition to the steel plant, Lokesh emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s renewed attractiveness to investors, thanks to the state government’s proactive efforts. He stated, “We are aiming to create 20 lakh jobs in the near future,” and stressed that industrial investments in Visakhapatnam, particularly in the IT and data center sectors, will play a major role in this growth. He revealed plans to engage directly with industrial groups and announced upcoming field visits and roadshows to build relationships with industry leaders.

Lokesh further outlined technological advancements, noting the importance of updating servers every three years. He projected that establishing data centers would create significant job opportunities, especially with Andhra Pradesh positioning Visakhapatnam as a future hub for the pharmaceutical, defence, and IT sectors. “In the next 100 days, we aim to achieve better results in the IT sector,” he added confidently.

Additionally, Lokesh apologized to a Visakhapatnam resident whose car was hit by his convoy during the visit. Taking responsibility for the incident, he assured that the matter would be resolved, and such occurrences would not happen again.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure and investment plans were discussed, with a focus on making Visakhapatnam a global destination for IT. Lokesh emphasized the state’s transition from “ease of doing business” to the “speed of doing business.” Andhra Pradesh Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy echoed Lokesh’s vision and praised the state’s ongoing investments in ports, airports, and economic corridors, citing strategic projects such as the development of four greenfield ports at Ramayapatnam, Bhavanapadu, Machilipatnam, and Kakinada Gateway with a budget of ₹17,605 crore.

Together, these initiatives are aimed at positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in India’s journey toward becoming a $5 trillion economy.
