The government sees great potential in bringing these sea planes to Andhra Pradesh (AP) to reap numerous benefits. Apart from boosting tourism, these sea planes could facilitate easier rescue operations in flood-prone areas like Lankan villages. Their swift mobility surpasses that of traditional rescue boats, proving invaluable during emergencies.

The proposed Sea Plane Policy by the Central government, initiated before the pandemic, aims to collaborate with entities like Spice Jet, Maritime Energy Heli Air Services, and Heritage Aviation for operating seaplanes. Despite a temporary setback due to COVID-19, plans are underway to revive the policy and expand sea plane operations in the near future.

In addition to sea planes, AP is also exploring the concept of helipods to enhance aviation infrastructure. The state’s ambitious goal includes doubling the number of airports and optimizing existing ones. This strategic focus on aviation development aligns with broader efforts to improve railway and road connectivity throughout the region. AP is poised to make significant strides in enhancing transportation networks for increased accessibility and efficiency.
