Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu embarked on a two-day visit to Delhi to engage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various Union ministers. During his trip, he paid a visit to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, where he was warmly welcomed by Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu. Ram Mohan Naidu revealed that Andhra Pradesh (AP) is set to double its airport network from seven to 14. The Chief Minister of AP expressed a need for expanding the terminal capacity and enhancing airport facilities in Rajamahendravaram, Vijayawada, and Kadapa. The Union Minister assured that with the provision of land, the Union government would extend its support for the establishment of new airports, including proposed locations in Srikakulam, Dagadarthi, Kuppam, and Nagarjunasagar.

Furthermore, discussions between Ram Mohan Naidu and the AP Chief Minister also touched upon the transformation of Puttaparti airport into a government entity, as part of Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to position AP as a key logistics hub with new airports playing a pivotal role in this strategic development. Atul Bhatt, the Chairman and Managing Director of RINL overseeing the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, conveyed his appreciation to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for extending the lease of the Garbham Manganese mines in Merakamudidam mandal, Vizianagaram district. This lease extension holds great significance for RINL, ensuring a steady supply of manganese ore crucial for production.

Bhatt also expressed gratitude to Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao and Lok Sabha member M. Sri Bharat for their unwavering support. The lease area of the Garbham manganese mine spans 654 acres, with RINL utilizing around 6,000 tonnes annually, underscoring the critical role of manganese in hot metal production within blast furnaces. This lease extension underscores the importance of collaboration between industry and government in fostering economic progress.

On a separate note, trade union leader Varasala Srinivasa Rao voiced disappointment among workers regarding Chief Minister Naidu’s silence on the issue of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) privatization, despite multiple meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rao emphasized the urgent need for the Chief Minister to prioritize the continuity of VSP in the public sector, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of raw materials essential for production, as the plant faces imminent challenges. He highlighted the visit of Union Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to the steel plant, where promises were made to streamline raw material supplies for normal production by NMDC, yet no action has been taken. Rao stressed the dwindling stock of raw materials and the critical need for immediate measures to safeguard blast furnaces, with one furnace already halted and reduced production in another, signaling a pressing situation that demands attention.

The Vigilance and Enforcement Department has reportedly taken action by issuing show cause notices to approximately 50 staff members of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), including individuals from the engineering division. This move is part of a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities within the well-known temple trust spanning the last five years. The inquiry was prompted by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s call to revamp and cleanse the TTD and has been ongoing for more than a month. Special teams from the vigilance and enforcement unit have been delving into various departments within the TTD, meticulously reviewing records and concentrating on the trust’s operations over the past five years. The examination encompasses processes related to donations, allocation of VIP break darshan, building of new temples in both Telugu states using trust funds, as well as the distribution of VIP break darshan and Arjitha Seva tickets under discretionary quotas. Additionally, the issuance and renewal of shop and hawker licenses at Tirumala are under scrutiny. Sources familiar with the investigation disclosed that high-ranking officers, including those from the revenue department, were extensively questioned by the vigilance teams. The engineering projects carried out during the previous YSRC government’s term are under particular scrutiny, with concerns raised about significant sums of money allocated for various unanticipated engineering ventures over the last five years.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu recently drew intriguing parallels between the ongoing revolution in Bangladesh and the outcomes of the 2024 elections in Andhra Pradesh. During a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday at the state secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati, Naidu engaged in discussions on political matters with his ministers. Reflecting on the election in Andhra Pradesh, Naidu described it as a subtle revolution, contrasting it with the more tumultuous events in Bangladesh. Emphasizing the democratic nature of the country, Naidu highlighted how the people expressed their will through the act of voting.

Addressing the ministers, Naidu advocated for inclusive decision-making processes in the development of constituencies, stressing the importance of consulting with the public and aligning decisions with their perspectives. He criticized the YSRC leaders for allegedly mishandling revenue from liquor sales, raising concerns about the quality of products endangering public health. Naidu pointed out the availability of various liquor brands in previous years and announced plans to introduce a comprehensive liquor policy in the state by October 1.

Furthermore, Naidu urged a thorough examination of liquor policies in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Kerala to inform the formulation of the best practices. He cautioned the ministers against repeating the actions of the previous government and emphasized the importance of upholding the law to hold wrongdoers accountable.

Instead, feeder ambulances will be reintroduced in these areas. Additionally, he has called for the reopening of dormitories for pregnant women, which were previously provided by the Telugu Desam government but later closed. Naidu has also mandated officials to arrange an International Tribal Day next month.

During a review meeting at the state secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati, the Chief Minister assessed the current status of education, medical services, and welfare programs for tribal communities. He criticized the previous YSRC government for derailing initiatives that were in place from 2014 to 2019, such as NTR Vidyonnathi, Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi, and Best Available Schools aimed at tribal students. Naidu expressed disappointment that the feeder ambulances established for tribal healthcare had been discontinued over the past five years.

His upcoming event to distribute old-age pensions at Gundumala village in Madakasira mandal, Sri Satya Sai district, on August 1 will have restricted access, permitting only villagers and elected representatives to attend.
