Despite assurances from the previous government to provide relief, the new government has only recently cleared a fraction of the owed amount. The doctors emphasized their dedication to serving patients under the scheme but expressed frustration at facing unwarranted challenges and delays in receiving payment.

In addition to the financial issues, junior doctors have been protesting for the second consecutive day, advocating for the implementation of the Central Protection Act in the state. This comes in the wake of a tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, where medical students have been staging protests following the rape and murder of a postgraduate student on August 9. As part of their protest, the students have boycotted non-emergency medical services and have received support from senior medical professionals across both public and private sectors.

Furthermore, an altercation occurred at Kurnool Medical College involving an attendant who allegedly mistreated a postgraduate student while she was trying to assist a female doctor facing abuse. The medical students have reported the incident to local authorities, seeking appropriate action against the attendant.
