]]> Government healthcare professionals at primary health centers (PHCs) are optimistic about the state government addressing their request to annul GO 85, which reduces the in-service allocation for pursuing postgraduate programs from 30% to 15% and finding a peaceful resolution. They highlighted their contributions during the Covid-19 crisis to assist the state in managing effectively and lowering casualties. The doctors urged the government to retract GO 85, citing that it restricts their chances to pursue advanced studies at a time when demand for specialized courses is on the rise. Dr. T. Rajesh, President of the Andhra Pradesh PHC Doctors’ Association, stated, “We urge the state government to amicably resolve this matter. If GO 85 is enforced, PHC doctors serving the government will be denied the opportunity to enhance their skills and better serve the community.”

The PHC doctors have been protesting in various ways since September 10 and are prepared to escalate their protest by halting emergency services on September 14. They are planning a ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ march on September 15 to the health director’s office and will commence an indefinite fast from September 16 if the state government does not engage in discussions to address the issue.
