CDSCO clarified that all 53 tablets including calcium, vitamin, BP, and diabetes tablets did not qualify in this quality test.

Everything from milk to oil is adulterated. Scammers are risking people’s health for profit. In the end, if health is not good, the medicines are also adulterated. The latest Drug Regulatory Authority of India has shed light on the alarming findings from the recent drug quality tests conducted by CDSCO.

It is noteworthy that around 53 types of pills that we commonly use do not meet the quality standards. The list includes paracetamol, calcium, vitamin D3 supplements, anti-diabetic, and high blood pressure tablets. CDSCO randomly selects samples every month for quality tests, and the results have uncovered shocking revelations.

Several well-known companies, including Hetero Drugs, Alchem Laboratories, Hindustan Antibiotics Limited, Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited, Meg Lifesciences, Pure and Cure Healthcare, have produced tablets that failed the quality tests. Notably, even a public sector company like Hindustan Antibiotic Limited – HAL, has been listed for manufacturing substandard metronidazole tablets.

In a significant move, CDSCO recently banned 156 types of fixed dose drug combinations in the Indian market due to potential dangers they pose to human health. This highlights the urgent need for stricter regulations and oversight in the pharmaceutical industry.

The discovery of fake medicines under well-known brands like Pantocid, Telka H, Ursocol 300, and Pulmo Sil is alarming. These counterfeit drugs not only jeopardize patient safety but also erode trust in the healthcare system.
