Vidya Balan honored the late Carnatic music legend, MS Subbulakshmi, by beautifully showcasing her in a photo shoot adorned in the traditional silk sarees that were a hallmark of the renowned vocalist’s style. Collaborating with costume designer Anu Parthasarathy, the actress captured the timeless grace and elegance of the singer known for her enchanting voice. Fondly known as ‘MS Amma,’ MS Subbulakshmi was the first musician to be honored with the prestigious Bharat Ratna award in India.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Vidya expressed her deep admiration for the iconic singer and shared her excitement at realizing her long-held dream of paying homage to MS Amma. Commemorating the 108th birth anniversary of MS Subbulakshmi, Vidya’s tribute celebrated the musician known as the ‘Queen of Music’ by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and the ‘Nightingale of India’ by Sarojini Naidu.

Vidya showcased four of the sarees that were popularized by MS Subbulakshmi, highlighting not only the elegance of the attire but also the simple yet significant accessories that completed the singer’s iconic look, such as kumkum, vibhuti, nose stud, and jasmine flowers.

The actor acknowledged the collaborative effort that made the tribute possible, recognizing Anu Parthasarathy for her creative vision and flutist Sikkil Mala Chandrashekar, grandson-in-law of the legendary singer, for their contributions to the project.
