Hyderabad, November 7 — In a significant update, the Central Government has announced a relaxation in the eligibility criteria for the JEE Advanced exam. Until now, candidates were allowed to appear for the exam only twice, for two consecutive years. However, this limit has been extended, allowing candidates to attempt the JEE Advanced exam for three consecutive years starting now.

Key Changes in JEE Advanced Eligibility:

  • Extended Eligibility: Candidates can now appear for the JEE Advanced exam up to three years in a row.
  • Relaxation for 2022-23 Students: The relaxation also applies to students who passed in the academic year 2022-23, giving them another opportunity to write the exam this year.
  • Age Criteria: For JEE Advanced 2025, only candidates born on or after October 1, 2000 are eligible. However, candidates from SC, ST, and Divyang (disabled) categories are granted a five-year exemption, meaning they must be born on or after October 1, 1995 to apply.

This relaxation is expected to provide more chances for aspiring candidates to secure seats in prestigious IITs.

Exam Syllabus and Date:

  • The syllabus for JEE Advanced 2025 remains unchanged, and students are advised to prepare according to the previous syllabus.
  • Although the exact date for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam has not been confirmed, it is usually held in the 3rd or 4th week of May. Experts anticipate the exam could be scheduled between May 18 and 25, 2025.

Direct Admission for International Olympiad Participants:

In another major development, IIT Kanpur has announced that students who have participated in the International Olympiad will be granted direct admissions to IIT Kanpur, bypassing the usual JEE Advanced requirements.

  • Seats for Olympiad Participants: Up to 6 seats in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department will be reserved for students who participated in the Mathematics and Informatics Olympiad. Admissions will also be available for the departments of Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biological Sciences, and Bio-Engineering.
  • Application Timeline: Applications for these seats will open in the first week of March, and the admissions process will be completed before JOSAA counselling.
  • Seat Allocation: It is yet to be clarified whether these seats will be additional or allocated from the existing pool of seats.

Conclusion:

This is a landmark change in the JEE Advanced eligibility rules, benefiting students who had previously missed the opportunity to write the exam. Additionally, the direct admission offer for International Olympiad participants opens a new avenue for academically talented students, providing them a unique opportunity to gain admission into IITs without going through the JEE process.

Stay tuned for more updates on the JEE Advanced 2025 exam and admission announcements from IIT Kanpur.

It all began when Mayuri, a young girl in Mumbai, visited her mother, who was shooting for a movie. The director, Saeed Akhtar Mirza, offered her a role as the heroine in a film. While acting seemed like an appealing opportunity, Mayuri had always dreamed of a career in business. She was an academic achiever, excelling in her studies from a young age, and had aspirations of becoming a chief officer in a major company. Nonetheless, seeing the chance to build a name in Bollywood, she took on the role in the movie, but her heart was set on a different path.

Rising in Bollywood and Transitioning to Business

Mayuri’s rise in Bollywood was marked by several notable roles, with films like “Papa Kehte Hai,” “Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet,” and her last film “Vamsi” (2000) making waves. She also appeared in television shows like Nargis, Toda Gum Toda Khushi, and Dollar Babu. However, by 2003, the offers began to decrease, and she realized her true calling lay beyond the film sets.

Instead of continuing in the limelight, Mayuri made the decision to leave the film industry and move to America with her husband, NRI Aditya Dhillon. She pursued an MBA in Business Marketing and Finance, a decision that would set her on an entirely new trajectory. Between 2004 and 2012, Mayuri not only completed her MBA but also cleared the IIT entrance exam. Despite securing a spot at IIT Kanpur, she chose to focus on her business studies instead of pursuing a career in engineering.

A Successful Career in Technology

In 2013, Mayuri returned to India and took on a new challenge, becoming the Managing Director at Performics. Her leadership skills and business acumen quickly garnered attention, and she soon joined Google India, marking her official entry into the tech industry. In 2019, she was appointed as the India Industry Head at Google India, a significant milestone in her career.

Mayuri’s success in the technology sector is a testament to her ability to adapt and excel in an entirely new environment. Her transition from Bollywood to business and technology has made her a trailblazer, inspiring many to pursue their dreams, regardless of the field they start in.

In December 2003, she married NRI Aditya Dhillon, whom she met through a common friend at a party. The couple settled in America, where Mayuri embarked on her educational and professional journey.

Mayuri Kongo’s story is one of unexpected turns and great success. From the silver screen to the boardroom, her career has shown that with the right blend of passion, education, and determination, one can break away from conventions and achieve remarkable feats. Her journey serves as an inspiration for those looking to reinvent themselves and pursue new opportunities, no matter where they start.
