The coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has significantly accelerated the development of Amaravati, moving forward with ambitious infrastructure projects to transform the capital city. Recently, CM Naidu inaugurated the first-of-its-kind gas-insulated substation (GIS) in Tallaiyapalem, a crucial step to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality power supply to Amaravati.

New GIS Substation to Power Amaravati’s Growth

The 400/220 KV gas-insulated substation, established by the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (AP Transco), is designed to cater to the growing energy needs of the capital city and surrounding areas. Prior to this, Amaravati was dependent on power from the Tadikonda substation, but with the rapid expansion of the capital, the new GIS substation will provide stable power to Tullur, Mangalagiri, Tadepalli mandals, and even support the industries in Guntur and NTR districts.

CM Naidu laid the foundation for the new substation with a focus on creating a reliable infrastructure that will enable Amaravati to grow into a thriving metropolis. Additionally, the government has committed to completing other significant projects, including 11 new substations across the state, with a total investment of 6,098 crores, all expected to be completed within the next year.

Efforts to Resolve Land Pooling Dilemma

Along with the new infrastructure, Municipal Minister Narayana has been actively working to resolve issues related to land pooling for Amaravati’s development. The government faced challenges in the past when some farmers hesitated to participate in the land pooling process due to concerns and misconceptions. To address these doubts, Minister Narayana personally visited the residence of farmer Anumolu Gandhi in Vijayawada to explain the necessity of the capital and the government’s assurances regarding their concerns.

This proactive approach aims to boost farmer confidence and expedite the progress of Amaravati’s construction. The government is determined to overcome the hurdles and make Amaravati a world-class city.

Amaravati 2.0 – The Road Ahead

As the development of Amaravati progresses at full speed, CM Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that the city, once regarded as a barren desert, will soon transform into one of the leading cities in India. The comprehensive action plan spearheaded by the AP government is set to create a solid foundation for the capital’s growth, ensuring that the city is equipped with modern infrastructure, facilities, and opportunities for residents and businesses alike.

With a clear vision for Amaravati 2.0, the state is working tirelessly to bring the dream of a vibrant, well-planned capital to fruition. The collaboration of government officials and the support of the local farming community will be crucial in accelerating the city’s transformation into the jewel of Andhra Pradesh.

The Congress government in Telangana has made significant strides in advancing the Devada lift pumps project, a crucial endeavor that has been in the works for two decades. The project, which aims to supply water to seven districts, is now gaining momentum under the leadership of Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Minister Reddy, along with fellow ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Seethakka, recently inspected the Devada project and set a firm deadline for its completion. By the end of March 2026, they aim to have all pending works of the project finalized, with plans to inaugurate it for the benefit of the people, as announced by Sonia Gandhi.

The ministers expressed their determination to overcome past obstacles and ensure the project’s timely execution. They criticized the previous government for impeding the progress of the irrigation department and engaging in corrupt practices. Minister Reddy highlighted the alleged mismanagement of funds and emphasized the need for transparency and efficiency in completing infrastructure projects.

With a focus on revitalizing the northern Telangana districts, the government is prioritizing the Devada upliftment scheme to enhance agricultural productivity and address water scarcity issues. The construction of the Sammakka Barrage will further bolster water supply, benefiting over 5.57 lakh acres of land.

The ministers underscored the contrast between their proactive approach and what they perceive as negligence on the part of the previous administration. They accused the former rulers of prioritizing personal gains over public welfare, citing instances of alleged corruption in major projects like Kaleswaram, Palamuru, Devada, and Sitarama.

In conclusion, the Congress government’s commitment to completing the Devada project within the specified timeframe reflects its dedication to rural development and sustainable water management in Telangana.

The World Bank delegation’s visit to Andhra Pradesh is ongoing, with groups of 10 members from both the World Bank and ADB arriving in the state for official visits. Representatives from the World Bank and ADB are scheduled to conduct extensive tours until the 27th of this month.

Progress continues in the development of Amaravati, as the Andhra Pradesh government gains further insight from the World Bank regarding funding outlined in the Union Budget. A significant meeting took place today between Chandrababu and the World Bank teams, during which discussions included the potential for a loan from the World Bank.

Field studies have already been conducted on construction projects and roads in Amaravati. Following discussions with CRDA officials in the morning, a meeting was held with CM Chandrababu later in the day. The World Bank’s technical experts sought clarifications on legal and infrastructure matters, while also inquiring about ongoing litigations with the National Green Tribunal.

The Amaravati Master Plan was reviewed with the Chief Minister, where Chandrababu presented detailed economic plans in a PowerPoint presentation. Emphasizing the use of cutting-edge technology and global standards in construction, he expressed that the World Bank is considering additional financial support beyond the budgeted 15,000 crores, potentially in partnership with the Asian Development Bank. The CM urged expedited release of funds.

A recent visit by a group of World Bank representatives involved inspections of various locations in Amaravati, including roads, the Kondaveeti stream pump house, and educational institutions like VIT, SRM, and AIIMS. The alliance government’s efforts towards Amaravati’s development are described as progressing rapidly.

The Chief Minister urged officials to prioritize the operations of the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board, the AP Maritime Infrastructure Development Corporation, and the establishment of special purpose vehicles (SVPs) in various projects, along with the AP Inland Waterways Authority. Emphasizing the swift completion of ports and fishing harbors, he committed to formulating an AP Maritime Master Plan and a Maritime Policy.

Regarding aviation, the CM advocated for the construction of airports/airstrips in locations such as Dagadarthi, Kuppam, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Mulapeta. He expressed disappointment that these projects, despite having received approval and completed land acquisition previously, were halted by the YSRC government, urging officials to resume and expedite the construction of these airports.

Highlighting the need for 12 to 14 airports/airstrips in AP, he proposed exploring options for additional airport development in Tadipatri and Tuni, while also pushing for the establishment of a unit of the Flying Training Organization at Kurnool airport. The CM instructed officials to devise projects enabling cargo transportation from airports, citing the potential benefits of linking air and sea ports with national highways for employment opportunities and state development.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister directed officials to incorporate the AP Aviation Corporation within the general administration department and the AP Digital Corporation within the Information and Public Relations department. He recommended merging the AP Towers Corporation into AP FiberNet Ltd.

Addressing the decline in fibernet connections from nine lakh to five lakh due to service quality issues during the 2019-24 period, he criticized the mismanagement by the YSRC government, resulting in a debt burden of 1,258 crores. The CM urged the restoration of the AP Drone Corporation, AP Towers Corporation, and the Gas Infrastructure Corporation, emphasizing the completion of Real Time Governance centers and their integration with the CC camera network.
