]]>Modi’s day commenced at the Kannur International Airport, where he was warmly greeted by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Vijayan, and Union Minister Suresh Gopi. Subsequently, he boarded a military helicopter for an aerial assessment of the most impacted areas, including Mundakkal, Chooralmala, and Attamala. A senior official briefed the Prime Minister on the extent of the disaster during the flight.
Upon landing at a makeshift helipad in Kalpetta, Modi proceeded to Chooralmala, where he personally traversed approximately 500 meters through the devastated regions. Accompanied by Chief Secretary V. Venu and ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar, Modi expressed deep concern as he passed by the demolished Vellarmala School, inquiring about the well-being of the students. He then crossed the Bailey bridge constructed by the Army, which replaced the original bridge washed away by flash floods triggered by the landslide. The swift construction of the Bailey bridge within 24 hours by the Army played a crucial role in aiding the rescue operations.
