The North Andhra region is gearing up for substantial rainfall due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the central and northern Bay of Bengal. According to the IMD, this low-pressure system emerged on Thursday influenced by a cyclonic circulation in the east-central Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to move west-northwest and could intensify into a depression over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal by August 30. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted as it nears the coasts of northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha, especially on August 30 and 31. IMD has issued a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall for multiple districts in north coastal Andhra Pradesh during this period, prompting an orange alert for the region. The districts likely to be significantly affected include Parvathi Puram Manyam, Sitharamraju, Ambedkar, and West Godavari. Residents are cautioned to remain vigilant as the weather system may bring thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching up to 40 km/h. The region is already experiencing significant precipitation, with Vizag recording the highest rainfall at 5.8cm, followed by Palakonda at 5.6cm, Garugubilli at 5.4cm, and Mandasa at 5.3cm.
