Officials reported that unusually intense rainfall hit the districts of Jaisalmer, Pali, and Jodhpur in Rajasthan over the past 24 hours, resulting in localized flooding. Disaster response teams have been dispatched to the affected areas equipped with specialized equipment like mud pumps and tankers to aid in water removal and offer assistance to residents.

The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur noted substantial rainfall levels in specific areas, with Mohangarh and Bhaniyana in Jaisalmer district receiving 260 mm and 206 mm of rainfall, respectively, by 8:30 am. Similarly, Pali recorded 257 mm of rain, while Dechu in Jodhpur district saw 246 mm during the same timeframe.

The Meteorological office warned of a cyclonic circulation affecting Gangetic West Bengal and nearby Bangladesh, along with an active monsoon trough that could bring further heavy rainfall across various parts of the state. Specifically, regions like Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar in the sub-Himalayan districts are expected to experience heavy rain until August 9, with potential landslides being a concern in hill areas like Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

Additionally, forecasts indicate that Jharkhand may also face heavy rainfall for the next couple of days due to the influence of a monsoon trough.
