During a recent visit to Rushikonda, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound disappointment over the environmental degradation and excessive construction undertaken by the previous YSRC government. Inspecting the structures built in the scenic region, Naidu, accompanied by state ministers and MLAs, highlighted the misuse of public funds on extravagant projects that prioritize luxury over public welfare.

“Something that no one could have imagined has happened,” Naidu stated, addressing the press. “These buildings reflect how public resources were diverted for personal luxury. Heart-breaking truths are emerging.” Naidu also revealed that despite efforts by the media and public activists to uncover the extent of these developments, the previous government had kept Rushikonda’s exploitation concealed, even misleading bodies like the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the High Court, and the central government. The Chief Minister mentioned how he and Pawan Kalyan were previously prevented from visiting the site, limiting their ability to witness the damage firsthand.

In addition to condemning the prior government’s environmental policies, Naidu announced a significant infrastructure initiative: by Sankranti, all roads in Andhra Pradesh are set to be pothole-free. The government has allocated a substantial ₹7,860 crore for road repairs, a move that aims to improve daily commutes and ensure road safety for the state’s citizens.

Through these actions, Naidu and his administration are committed to restoring Andhra Pradesh’s natural beauty and ensuring responsible use of public funds for essential infrastructure projects. Citizens of the state are hopeful for a return to transparency and sustainability.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed Andhra Pradesh’s ongoing national highway projects on Thursday, meeting with state officials and highway authorities to discuss progress and upcoming goals. In this comprehensive review, officials informed CM Naidu that 129 highway projects, spanning an impressive 3,300 km and costing ₹76,000 crore, are actively underway. Additionally, new projects valued at ₹30,000 crore are set to commence soon.

Emphasizing the importance of these infrastructure projects, Naidu remarked that they are poised to build on the legacy of the Swarnachaturbhuja (Golden Quadrilateral) roads, providing essential facilities that will bolster the nation’s economy and elevate the living standards of Andhra Pradesh’s citizens.

To ensure the timely completion of these ambitious projects, Naidu has announced the formation of a nine-member task force, which includes representatives from the National Highway, Forest, Railway, Roads, and Revenue Departments. This team will streamline coordination across departments, addressing any arising issues through a special portal designed to keep all parties updated and in sync. This platform will accelerate the resolution of challenges, preventing project delays and fostering smoother workflows.

Further easing the construction process, CM Naidu assured contractors of a free sand supply for highway construction and swift approvals for gravel acquisition, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to removing logistical barriers. To monitor progress, Naidu stated that every project would undergo quarterly reviews, with firm actions to be taken against delays. Notably, the state is advancing three critical projects under the Bharat Mala initiative, including the development of six-lane roads spanning Raipur-Visakhapatnam, Chittoor-Thatchur, and Bangalore-Kadapa. These projects will cover 518 km within Andhra Pradesh, greatly enhancing connectivity across the state.

The Chief Minister also addressed pending land acquisitions involving 11 projects worth ₹24,766 crore. He noted that permissions are awaited from the Forest Department for constructing a 7.5 km stretch along the Bangalore-Kadapa-Vijayawada Expressway.

Expressing gratitude to the central government for upgrading the Ranasthalam-Srikakulam highway to a four-lane route, Naidu revealed plans for an eight-lane highway in Andhra Pradesh. He also touched on the state’s sand supply, announcing that sand would be free for citizens and builders alike. Reflecting on past administrations, Naidu alleged misuse of natural resources, including sand, which had adversely impacted over 30 lakh construction workers due to supply issues at the time.

In a commitment to boost agriculture, Naidu vowed to supply irrigation water to every acre of farmland in the state by interlinking rivers. A new water policy is in the works, aimed at improving water accessibility across Andhra Pradesh. He also responded to allegations surrounding YSRC president Jagan Mohan Reddy, citing investigations into certain government orders and decisions by the YSRC government.

On a related development, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan commented on the newly approved railway line connecting Amaravati, noting it as a transformative project for the city’s development and the state’s growth. This railway line is also expected to contribute to Andhra Pradesh’s climate goals by reducing CO2 emissions, equivalent to planting 25 lakh trees.

Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu lauded the Union Cabinet’s decision to approve the Amaravati railway line, describing it as historic and pivotal for the expansion of Amaravati and the reduction of congestion in Vijayawada. MP Daggubati Purandeswari echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the central government’s commitment to Andhra Pradesh through financial backing of ₹12,500 crore for the Polavaram project and ₹2,245 crore for the new railway line in Amaravati.

These developments underscore a future where a dual government system supports Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure, enabling prosperity for all.

The newly launched policies include:

AP Industrial Development Policy 4.0 – Aims to bolster the state’s industrial sector with an emphasis on innovation, technological advancements, and competitiveness.

He explained, “Our priority is to generate employment opportunities and boost economic growth. Each of these policies has been designed to make Andhra Pradesh a leading player in sectors such as IT, industrial development, food processing, and renewable energy.”

In addition to these policies, the Cabinet also discussed the new industrial policy and the introduction of a ‘three free gas refills’ scheme, aimed at providing relief to households. Moreover, CM Naidu cautioned party leaders and ministers to maintain a non-partisan approach to the free sand supply process, reinforcing the need to uphold the government’s integrity.

Future Policies on the Horizon:
CM Naidu hinted at additional policies in the pipeline, particularly in IT and tourism. He remarked, “Soon, we will bring forth new policies focusing on the IT and tourism sectors to complement these initial six policies. We’ve put a lot of effort into ensuring these policies will set a strong foundation for our state’s future.”

Following a visit to the Anjaneyaswamy temple, he engaged in a face-to-face meeting with villagers, promptly addressing their concerns and later addressing the community.

During the YSRC tenure, the use of “cow ghee” in the production of Tirupati laddu sparked controversy as lab test reports revealed a mixture of not only soybean oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, and corn oil but also fish oil, beef tallow, palm oil, and even pork fat. Anam Venkataramana Reddy, a spokesperson for the Telugu Desam party, presented these reports to support Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s assertion that adulterated ghee had been incorporated into the laddus made at Tirumala. These examinations took place at the National Dairy Development Board’s cattle feed laboratory. In Nellore, he addressed the media, emphasizing that the YSRC’s dishonest practices had been unveiled through the findings of the National Dairy Development Board’s cattle feed laboratory tests. “The ghee utilized during the YSRC administration included animal fats, validating our concerns about the desecration of our revered laddus,” he remarked. Following the change in government, ghee samples were sent for testing by the TTD on July 12, 2024, with the alarming results being received on July 23. The disclosed reports indicate that the so-called “cow ghee” was not limited to vegetable oils such as soybean oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, and corn oil, but also contained fish oil, beef tallow, palm oil, and even pork fat.

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly approved the Andhra Pradesh Land Titling Repeal Bill 2024 to eliminate the existing law during its session on Wednesday. Additionally, they passed the Dr YSR University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which reinstated the name of former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao to the university.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu criticized the Land Titling Act as “terrible” and harmful to the welfare of landowners in Andhra Pradesh. During a discussion on the Land Titling Act Bill, Naidu expressed dissatisfaction with the previous administration for implementing the law without thoroughly assessing its consequences.

The AP Land Titling Repeal Bill, 2024 was presented by Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad, while Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav introduced the health university bill. Both bills received unanimous support from all legislators, and Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu declared their unanimous approval. The legislative council also unanimously passed the two bills.

The Chief Minister emphasized the negative impact of the law, stating, “This law is extremely flawed. Its hasty implementation has led to numerous issues. In my Kuppam constituency, where I have been a CM, MLA, and Leader of the Opposition for 40 years, the majority of recent complaints and cases relate to land disputes due to irregularities in the past five years.”
