In a move to streamline the paddy procurement process, the state government has introduced an AI-powered WhatsApp ChatBot service for farmers. Announced by Civil Supplies, Food, and Consumer Affairs Minister Nadendla Manohar on Sunday, this service is designed to enhance convenience and efficiency for farmers selling their crop produce.

Farmers can begin the process by sending a simple “HI” message to the dedicated WhatsApp number 7337359375. The ChatBot will then provide step-by-step guidance through an automated voice message.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Farmers will input their Aadhar details and name.
  2. They will select a nearby procurement center and book a date and time slot for the sale.
  3. They will specify the variety of paddy and the number of bags they wish to sell.

Once the details are entered, the ChatBot generates a confirmation coupon code that includes the scheduled time slot, date, and the selected procurement center. This code acts as an assurance for farmers, enabling them to avoid long waits at procurement centers.

Minister Manohar emphasized that this service not only reduces the hassle for farmers but also ensures a more organized and efficient procurement process. The AI-driven ChatBot service represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology for agricultural benefit.

Farmers are encouraged to utilize this new service for a seamless and stress-free crop sale experience.

Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar have instructed officials to ensure justice for farmers who have suffered crop losses due to recent natural disasters. They emphasized the need to implement a crop insurance scheme for all farmers in the state and indicated that the alliance government would assess the application of this scheme for mango farmers.

The ministers conducted a review meeting with agriculture and horticulture officials at the Secretariat on Monday. Following the meeting, they informed the media that, in line with directives from the Union Government, the state should adopt an effective crop insurance scheme. They criticized the previous government for undermining the crop insurance program over the last five years.

The three ministers discussed the implementation of the crop insurance scheme, focusing on yield and weather conditions, stating that “methods for implementing the scheme are currently being considered.” They also mentioned that a detailed report has been submitted to Chief Minister Naidu.
