The Telangana State Government has recently announced a series of job notifications in the medical and health department, with a particular focus on recruiting staff for various positions. One of the latest notifications pertains to the recruitment of 2,050 Nursing Officers (Staffners). Gopikant Reddy, the member secretary of the Telangana Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board, confirmed this development.

The online application process for these positions is set to commence on September 28, 2024, and will accept applications until 5 PM on October 14th. Candidates applying for the staff positions will undergo a written examination, which carries a total of 80 marks. An additional 20 marks will be awarded to individuals who have prior experience as contractual or outsourcing employees within the Medical and Health Department.

Applicants are required to possess a B.Sc Nursing or GNM qualification and must be registered with the Telangana State Nursing Council. The age criteria for applicants is between 18 to 46 years as of July 1, 2024, with age relaxations available for reserved categories.

Selected candidates for the Nursing Officer positions will receive a monthly salary ranging from Rs.36,750 to Rs.1,06,990. Moreover, additional points will be allocated to those who have served in tribal or non-tribal areas, emphasizing the importance of prior service in the healthcare sector.

Zonal-wise reservations have been implemented, with 95 percent reserved for locals. The distribution of districts across different zones ensures equitable representation and recruitment procedures.

The state government of Telangana has taken a significant step by filing a petition in the Supreme Court to challenge the recent verdict handed down by the Telangana High Court. The verdict, issued on September 5, mandated that locals with permanent residence in Telangana should receive preferential opportunities in state medical and dental colleges.

This petition is set to be heard by the bench led by Chief Justice Justice DY Chandrachud on Tuesday, September 17. The advocates representing the state government had urgently requested the Chief Justice’s bench to initiate an early inquiry into the admissions process of medical colleges. Fortunately, the Chief Justice agreed to this request, and the bench is scheduled to address this matter in the upcoming hearing.

In separate news, Professor Ramulu, the Controller of Examinations at Osmania University, has announced the examination dates for various courses. Notably, the five-year integrated course of M.C. Chemistry will hold regular and backlog examinations for the fourth, sixth, and eighth semesters starting from September 20. Additionally, the Master of Management Studies (MMS) first semester regular exams are slated for September 23, while BPharmacy (PCI) exams for the second, fourth, and sixth semesters, including all backlog exams, will commence from September 24.
