Murali convinced around 200 farmers in Hospet, Karnataka, that they could make large sums of money by rearing donkeys and selling their milk. The scheme appeared legitimate as he offered farmers three donkeys for an upfront payment of Rs. 3 lakhs, promising to buy the milk at Rs. 2,000 per liter.

The victims, lured by the prospect of high returns, eagerly paid the required amount, expecting to receive their donkeys and start their milk production business. However, after handing over their money, the farmers received their donkeys but found themselves unable to sell any milk back to the company. The promises of regular milk purchases were never fulfilled, and the company began making excuses to delay payments.

The Investigation and the Fugitive

As suspicion grew, one farmer took action and filed a complaint with the local authorities. An investigation soon revealed that Nutalapati Murali’s company lacked the necessary permits for such a business, and his claims about the health benefits of donkey milk were exposed as a sham. The authorities moved quickly to shut down Jenny Milk, seizing the company’s office, but Murali had already absconded, leaving behind a trail of devastated farmers.

It has now come to light that the company was a classic Ponzi scheme. Farmers who had invested in multiple donkeys were left with no recourse, and many are now struggling to care for their animals.
