Telangana Politics Heat Up: Accusations Fly Between Congress and BRS

Even without impending elections or announcements, Telangana’s political landscape is ablaze with tension. The ruling Congress party is hosting victory meetings to celebrate the achievements of its year-long governance. Meanwhile, the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has accused the Congress government of undoing a decade’s worth of progress in just one year.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been vocal in his criticism of former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), alleging shortcomings in his governance. The BRS, however, is not holding back, launching sharp counterattacks.

BRS Hits Back

Former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao made scathing remarks, labeling Revanth Reddy as a “cannabis plant” that needs to be uprooted. He vehemently defended KCR, crediting him for shaping Telangana into what it is today. Addressing allegations about losing public trust, Errabelli sarcastically referred to himself as a “monster” but one committed to serving the people.

BRS leader and former speaker Madhusudana Chari dismissed the Congress’s gatherings as “fraudulent meetings” and emphasized that the BRS remains deeply rooted in Telangana’s politics like a banyan tree. He further accused the Congress government of burdening the state with ₹85,000 crores of debt within just 11 months of coming to power.

Farmers’ Concerns

Janagama MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy criticized the Congress leadership for failing to address the concerns of farmers in Warangal. Highlighting KCR’s achievements in agriculture, he claimed that Telangana’s record crop yields are a testament to KCR’s governance.

Former minister Rajaiah lamented the lack of recognition for local artists and poets under the Congress government, questioning its commitment to cultural heritage.

Revanth’s Challenges

In response to KCR’s absence in the Assembly, CM Revanth Reddy has repeatedly challenged the former chief minister to debate key issues. However, BRS leader Gandra Venkataramana Reddy questioned Revanth’s ability to face KCR in a direct confrontation. He accused Revanth of repeatedly invoking KCR’s name to remain relevant in Telangana politics.

A Spiraling Political Conflict

As accusations and counter-accusations intensify, Telangana’s political stage remains volatile. With neither side showing signs of backing down, the coming days promise heightened drama. Whether the focus remains on governance or shifts entirely to political mudslinging remains to be seen.
