Hotels in Visakhapatnam are showcasing Kerala’s exquisite culinary delights, capturing the true spirit of the festival. Kerala Kala Samiti emphasizes its dedication to preserving the cultural customs that define Onam. The festivities will commence with a lively Pookalam contest, encouraging Malayala families to exhibit their traditional floral patterns akin to rangoli art. Following the Pookalam competition, a series of cultural events, including traditional dances and comedy performances, will entertain the attendees.

Onam, Kerala’s annual harvest and cultural festival, endorsed by the state, honors Lord Vamana and the benevolent Daitya King Mahabali. Tulsi Ram, an advisor to Kerala Samiti, shared with Deccan Chronicle that these activities aim to unite the Malayali community. The organizers anticipate a turnout of 1,000-1,500 participants for the primary celebration. Notably, hotels in Visakhapatnam are preparing to greet visitors with traditional flower garlands and serve meals on banana leaves, featuring specially crafted menus that showcase the diverse flavors of Kerala.
