Gone are the days of manual checks and physical challan collections by traffic police. The new system aims to automate the process by directly sending traffic challans to motorists’ mobile numbers if they violate traffic rules. This initiative is expected to not only enhance compliance but also facilitate easier payment options for the fines.

Authorities are working on proposals to integrate popular digital payment platforms such as Google Pay, Phone Pay, Paytm, BHIM App, and UPI to offer motorists convenient ways to settle their challan dues. By embracing digital solutions, the government aims to address the challenge of accumulating pending challan fines and ensure a smoother revenue flow.

The implementation of this new system will commence with a pilot project in select cities before expanding statewide. Motorists can anticipate receiving their challans via WhatsApp or text messages, with payment options seamlessly integrated into UPI mode for hassle-free transactions.
