]]> The Visakhapatnam Metro Regional Development Authority (VMRDA) unveiled a series of ambitious initiatives on Saturday aimed at transforming Visakhapatnam city. These projects span across various sectors such as entertainment, science and technology, information technology, revitalization of urban lakes, and enhancement of urban green spaces. During a media interaction, VMRDA Commissioner KS Viswanathan discussed plans to implement diverse projects on Kailasagiri hills, a popular city landmark. These projects include an amusement park, a science museum adjacent to the World Telugu Museum, a rotating restaurant, and a venue for destination weddings. Additionally, deliberations are underway for establishing a Habitat Center in Madhurawada, offering spaces for theater, literary events, and a library. The commissioner announced the intention to invite expressions of interest from agencies to undertake these projects soon. Furthermore, a proposal dating back to 2018 outlines the development of an IT complex in Madhurawada featuring 31-floor and 14-floor towers, along with a five-star hotel. An urban entertainment zone is also slated for development in the same vicinity. Notably, plans are in motion to revitalize urban water bodies in collaboration with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, as disclosed by the commissioner.

]]> The Visakhapatnam Metro Regional Development Authority (VMRDA) has taken action to halt the sale of residential plots spanning 610 acres in Vissannapeta village, located in the Anakapalli district, declaring them as unauthorized. Additionally, VMRDA has imposed a ban on advertising the property. The authority has served a notice to the layout company, Vintage Mount Valley Resorts, requesting a response within a week. The individuals promoting the project have been marketing plots in the Vissannapeta layout without adhering to regulations or obtaining government approval. VMRDA’s intervention was triggered by a complaint from Jana Sena leader and GVMC corporator, P.L.N. Murthy Yadav. Interestingly, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, who currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister, had visited the extensive layout last year and pledged to take action.

According to sources, multiple real estate agents, some associated with the Daspalla scandal, focused on Vissannapeta village in the Anakapalli district. Allegedly, they collectively encroached upon more than 600 acres of government, inam, D-patta, hills, and gedda poramboke lands. This land falls under Survey No. 195/2 within the Bayyavaram village revenue boundaries, situated 3.5 km from National Highway 16 and 35 km from Visakhapatnam. The illicit land acquisition process commenced around mid-2021 and was halted in September 2022 following the intervention of the collector of undivided Vizag, who initiated an inquiry.

The latest documented ownership within the layout belongs to S.R. Gopinath Reddy, the designated partner of Assure Estates and Developers, and Boddeda Prasad, a trusted aide of former minister Gudivada Amarnath. In September 2022, Gopinath and Prasad collectively procured 6.55 acres. Assure was awarded the contract for developing the layout, subsequently releasing a brochure for plot sales under the name of SRVS Constructions and Multi Trade Limited of Anakapalli.
